Robert Amos "Traces of the Brush" September 7 through October 31, 2009
One of Victoria’s best known artists, and for 35 years he has painted scenes of Victoria in watercolour and acrylics. Very few people know that during that time he has also evolved a unique synthesis using Chinese and Japanese forms to express his Canadian sensibility.
Robert uses Eastern scroll painting techniques of ink and brush on oriental paper to illuminate his Imaginary Landscapes, Portraits and Calligraphy. Sixteen of Amos' scrolls were shown in 2008 at the Prince Takamado Gallery of the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo.
