When her much-admired artist friend, Denise Ireland, offered art classes, it never occurred to Katherine that the experience would transform her focus from working with words to painting on canvas. For Katherine the subject matter keeps changing. She began with still life, which slowly blossomed into gardens, some real, some imagined. Then she turned to paintings of chairs to help raise money for a research chair in mental health for women. After that, she explored icebergs, oysters and vegetables, birds, and spent a long and self-revelatory time reimagining the family home. Katherine has exhibited at Linda Lando Fine Art, Vancouver; The Shayne Gallery, Montreal; the Gibson Gallery, London, Ontario; John Ramsay Contemporary Art, Vancouver; Ingram Fine Art, Toronto and in group shows at the Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria, Sooke Fine Art Show, Martin Batchelor Gallery, and The Gallery at the Mac. She has also participated in the Fairfield Artists Studio Tour, Art Incognito and private studio shows. Her paintings and prints are in private collections in Canada, the United States and Europe.
